Dell printers are extremely popular, providing an array of models at low price. It is designed to meet the requirement of home as well as office work. However, it may experience some problems in its functioning. If the matter is not taken seriously, it might damage its components. So, to help you with your Dell Problems, here are some problems with solutions:
1) Basic Problems
Check the power cable is properly plugged into the printer
Make sure that the printer power is on.
The electrical outlet is not turned off at any switch or breaker.
Other electrical equipment plugged into the outlet is working.
All options are properly installed.
If you still have any problem, turn off the printer, wait for 10 seconds, and then turn on. This often fixes the problem.
2) Problems in Printing
Incorrect characters printed.
Make sure that you are using the correct page-description language (PDL) and printer driver.
Make sure you are using the correct Ethernet or USB cable.
Make sure that the paper size is correct.
Check that current interface settings are correct.
Paper misfeeds or multiple feeds occur.
Check whether the paper loaded is according to the specifications of your printer.
Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly.
Do not overfill the paper.
Remove any curled paper from sources.
Do not mix different paper types.
Fill paper source only after it gets printed.
3) Problems with Printing Quality
The printer is printing is too light.
Check if the amount of toner cartridges is low or change it, if necessary.
Set the Toner Saving Mode check box to off in the advanced tab in the printer driver.
Verify that the correct paper is being used, according to specifications.
Check if the developer or transfer roller is damaged.
Make sure that the toner cartridge is properly installed.
Replace the imaging drum
The developer or fuser may be damaged.
Characters have jagged or uneven edges.
Go to your Printer Driver, Click on Graphics Tab. Change Print Mode to ‘High Quality.’
Go to the advanced tab in the printer driver and select Bitmap Text Smoothing
Check whether the downloaded fonts are supported by the printer and the host computer.
Part or the entire page prints in black.
Check the toner cartridge to make sure it is installed correctly.
Go to the advanced tab in the printer driver and deselect ‘Change All Colors’ to ‘Black.’
Check whether the high voltage power supply(HVPS) or machine control unit (IOT Control Unit) is broken.
The job prints, but the top and side margins are incorrect.
Make sure the margins are set correctly in your software program.
Colored dots are printed at regular intervals.
Clean the imaging drum.
Partial blanks, creased paper or blotted printing.
This problem is caused due to condensation inside the printer.
Turn on the printer and leave it for an hour to get rid of condensation.
The developer may be damaged.
Check raster output scanner (ROS) or printer mirror is broken.
4) Problem with Wireless Adapter
The wireless printer is not connected to the network.
Re-check the settings for the wireless printer panel.
Check the wireless printer is installed in the range of the wireless network.
Make sure that the Macintosh address is specified in the wireless printer.
Electronic devices like a microwave oven or cordless phone emit electromagnetic signal which may cause interference in wireless Signals. Keep them apart from your wireless printer.
Print the Printer Settings page, and then check if Link Quality is good in Wireless Network. Otherwise, move the wireless printer to the place accessible to the network, such as a wireless access point.
