Microsoft Hotmail or Outlook.com is a free web based email service provider. Founded in 1996 as Hotmail, it is one of the most popular web-based email services. It works on the methodology of Ajax programming and supports every known internet browsers. In 2013, Hotmail was replaced with Outlook.com with new features like Metro design language, unlimited storage, calendar, SkyDrive, Skype etc.

Hotmail promises better security for Hotmail accounts. Now, HTTPS is coming for the entire session of logging in, message transmission to secure user’s connection.
This feature helps users to open and check any content or attachment like photos, YouTube videos, LinkedIn etc., directly from their email messages.
Office Web Apps
The new Hotmail or Outlook.com has integrated with Office Web apps which allow users to view and edit attached files of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and save them directly to SkyDrive. You can share these files with other users for viewing.
Sweep feature can help user to delete large amounts of email into move to another folder. You can also configure sweep settings accordingly, for future purpose.
While registering for new account, a user can select its own domain name like @Hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com and @Outlook.com
Since Hotmail has been renamed as Outlook.com, many users are facing problems with their account. Following are the general troubleshooting that a user can try:
Secure your Hotmail account by changing your password and security questions. If you are facing problems like mysterious email rounding in your inbox or some of your mails is missing from your inbox. In case you are not able to login your account, there might be chances that your account has been hacked. To recover your mail, contact Hotmail Support Provider Company.
If you haven’t accessed your account for a long time, then there are chances that your account has been blocked by Hotmail. If you don’t access your account for 270 days or first 10 days of its creation then your account will be blocked by Microsoft.
You can also contact “lost and delete email forum” of Microsoft. Tell them your problem within 24 hours and there are chances that you might get your mail back.
If you are facing problems with the downloading or opening of your attachment, make sure that the extension of the file is compatible. If the attachment is more than 10 MB, then it might not get attached. Compress your file into zip folder.
In case your account does not get open, then wait for few hours. Sometimes, the backend problems causes error message.
Try https://login.live.com for secured Hotmail page.
If you are using Internet Explorer for your Hotmail account, try to use the updated version or Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome for faster access to your Hotmail account.
Configure and reset your internet browser security to default. Then reboot your system for better troubleshooting.
